As the headline implies, these lights are great unless you plan to hardwire them to an overhead junction box. The only way to supply power to them is from inlets/outlets on each of the outside edges. No way to mount them directly over a j box, and the short hard-wire cable is very short - not to mention the wires themselves are extremely low gauge. It was very difficult to keep them against a solid romex wire using wire nuts. This will not be an issue if you use the longer cord with the switch and plug.It's also interesting that there were no instructions whatsoever to explain a few anomolies. For instance, the plug on the cord is not grounded but is polarized. So, which of the three wires is for the hot lead? I had to use a continuity checker to figure out it's the blue lead. The green/white one is for ground, even though the plug has no ground conductor.To make this work with my house-wired ceiling j box, I bought a solid plate, drilled a hole just large enough for the short electrical cable to fit through, wired up and closed the j box, then attached the 3 prong cord to the light mounted an inch or two away. Then, I used the supplied extension wire to attach to the power outlet/inlet on the opposite side of the first light and feed it to the second light a foot away and parallel to the first.Very funky, indeed.On the other hand, they are extremely bright and far better than the two dual fluorescent fixtures they replaced.They are decent for the money.Very wiery about this order since there was 0 reviews. I replaced four eight foot florescent bay lights with these and I'm impressed with the lights, superbright lights up my whole shop, only thing will they last the test of time I'll update if they take a crap on me but so far so good.These lights are great. They are actually too bright for my usage as under counter lights. Not dimmable. Would be great in most other usages. Well designed.
