Great coverage with solar. Only problem if you are short, you’ll need a stool to stand on to reach the switch. Get a better base than recommended as the umbrella will not be sturdy enough, could sway or blow over.It's a good patio umbrella, but am slightly disappointed with the design and quality. I'd previously purchased a 10' umbrella from a different Amazon vendor, but barely after a month of purchasing it, I'd stupidly left it open one afternoon while at work, and a gust of wind caught it and lifted it up onto my roof and when it blew down, it snapped the main post above the crank. Ok, my fault. Lesson learned.I bought this 11' umbrella, different manufacturer for around twenty dollars less thinking I'd gotten a bargain. And in most aspects I did. However, compared to the previous one, the material of the covering seems, less than. Not as much of a thick canvas feel as the previous one, which doesn't instill a great sense of durability. I guess only time will tell in regards to that.The design however, I find lacking significantly. The switch for BOTH lights is tucked away on the end of one of the umbrella ribs out on the edge of the umbrella. WHY? Why should I have to trace each individual rib of the umbrella each time I want to turn on or off one, or both, of the lights? My previous umbrella only had the small lights along the ribs, but at least the switch was centrallly located just above the crank. Quick to find, Easy to use. Placing the light switch on the edge of the opened umbrella forces you to search for it, not ideal, especially when trying to close up the umbrella at night because of a sudden gusty wind or thunderstorm. Completely idiotic design choice. Plus I can't imagine running the wiring that extra length along the rib to the edge adds to the overall durability of the lighting either. The lights charge from a solar panel that screws onto the outside top of the central post. Wouldn't it make more sense to run the wiring straight down the center, main post to a switch instead of along the narrower, much longer ribs? That alone is a 2 star deduction in my book.If it were just one or the other of these issues I've noted, I could live with it, but not both combined. I'll use it until such time it begins to break down, but honestly, I'll be surprised if it makes it a few months at best. Next time when I'm looking for the next replacement, I won't be rebuying this version.Looks perfect for my patioThe only problem was I ordered a dark color. I initially thought it would be cool with the darkness but it actually created more heat underneath and on 90 to 95 degree days it was hot. But that was on me and I call it "live and learn". I sent one to my son who lives 4 hours away and they also love it. My other son loved it too and needed an umbrella so I'm sending him one. The umbrella is fantastic, large enough to cover my table and the lights at night made it great. I would definitely recommend this to all who want one.Loved the lights but this thing is a piece of crap. Completely blew my table over one day in a very light wind and nearly broke my back door windows doing so, because it isn’t vented well enough. Three days later, the tilt mechanism got stuck tilted and now the entire thing is broken. Returning.I purchased two of the 11' umbrellas. These are great umbrellas for the cost. The installation was extremely easy and the solar light hookup was just a matter of plugging the lights into the charging socket. The lights are not very bright, but are great accent lights. I do not intend to use the tilt function of the umbrellas; therefore, I can't comment on how well the umbrellas function at a tilt, but in the straight-up mode, the umbrellas are great.I love the color of the umbrella! So far it is serving its purpose.I love this umbrella, and have already got complements, it seems of good quality and shipped fast and arrived in perfect condition, I purchased in the fall so I set up briefly to make sure the lighting and mechanical were working. I put away till spring and will update review with 5 stars once I see it lasts.
