The lights were easy to install onto the frame of the umbrella. The functions are great. Only complaint is that doesn't come with clamp to fix to umbrella just a screw down base to attach solar panel to. But all in all would buy again.Bought these for my friend's retail storefront, to have some subtle lighting around the windows. Originally we thought about placing them outside, but there would be some issues with discreetly positioning the solar panel, so we settled for inside. The building has a second, smaller set of windows above the main ones (which are covered by an awning), where it's possible to mount the solar panel, and it receives as much direct sunlight there as anywhere else.At first glance, the lights work as advertised. Give the battery time to charge, and then you can cover the solar panel and see them come on. However, we have noticed glitches in the control software, it doesn't always remember the last setting it was on, under certain conditions (low battery?), and also it doesn't properly change modes under similar conditions. We discovered by trial and error that the solar panel was partly blocked, leading to weak charging, the lights would only come on for ~5 minutes. After fixing that, they run all night. So make sure to place the panel *fully* in direct sunlight, it makes that much difference. The bigger issue is the weakness of the remote's signal. You literally have to be within inches of the solar panel/control box for it to work, which my friend being not particularly tall, and the box being up near the ceiling, makes it virtually useless. I don't see why something like a 6ft range is too much to ask.I wish we could run the lights on demand, even during the daytime, because there are times when due to storms/clouds, the shop windows appear dark, even though it's not dark enough to active the lights. Similarly if other indoor lighting is on (say, halogen track lights), it's bright enough to fool the solar panel into thinking it's still day. So it sits there useless with a charged battery, and the windows are left dark while the store is open into the evening.Unfortunately, it's all automatic, you would have to physically cover the solar panel with something to fool the device. We've done that, but it's silly. You should be able to manually control it, even in the daylight, or better yet, perhaps set a brightness threshold for when the lights should turn on/off. That's a recommendation to the manufacturer for the next "upgrade".But hey, these are cheap lights, we got roughly what we expected. They look pretty good when they're on. For mounting, I went to the local hardware store and picked up a set of small plastic command clips. These lights are great and super easy to install. However the remote does not work, it almost seems fake in a way. So changing the pattern of the lights is a pain. The lights are great, the remote is worthless.Make sure you come back to this page to get directions on how to install these onto an umbrella. The box has nothing explaining how to set these up. Thanks to other reviewers for the pictures because those helped! This is not my first set of umbrella lights. First set was electric and lasted for many years, but sadly they finally bit the dust & I wanted to loose the cord. The next set I got off Amazon, but upon delivery realized they were battery powered. At first they were great, bright & with a little remote. Unfortunately they blasted through 6 AA in about a week so I knew these would not work. I searched on Amazon for solar powered umbrella light. There were several to pick from and prices varied. Even thou these lights were a little on the high price range ($25), they meet my basic requirements of (1) solar powered (2) over 100 individual LED lights & (3) adjustable remote control.Package arrived very quickly (1 day Prime) and was packaged very well. I was pleasantly surprised to see the actual size of the solar panel. A lot bigger than expected about 5x4 inches. Although the photo in the description shows the solar panel on the umbrella, which is how I want on mine, It would be nice if it had some kind of clamp or clip to actually attach it to the umbrella. But it does not, so it has to actually hang by its own cord which doesn’t seem very secure. After a bit of maneuvering I was able to secure the cord to the inside of the umbrella and it now seems secure.Unlike the battery powered LED lights which were encased in a thin flexible plastic covering, these LED lights are on thin copper wire. I felt the need to be extra careful when unfurling these tiny lights as not to break the wires. I fastened each string of lights to the 8 ribs of my umbrella with the included rip ties and waited while the sun did its thing. I’m happy to say that once it was dark, the lights all came on and look awesome. They are bright and the remote works just fine through the fabric of the umbrella. Even though I have only had them one day, I’m very pleased with my purchase.
