Waterproof Explosive Proof IP67
I have a mini mill with a coolant flooding system, and I've just been using waterproof led strips for quite some time. They're not all that bright, and the coolant seems to make their adhesive fail, so more than once I've had a strip fall down during a process, and get wrapped around the spindle.I finally decided to stop being lazy and install a proper light. so I chose this one.The very first thing I liked was that it ran on 24v, which is a native voltage in My system.I've always had to have a little 12v wall wart just to run the lighting, which isn't a really big deal, but I've always had to turn them on and off manually, as the switched lighting power port on My CNC is 24v output.(again, It was just one of those "I'll get around to it" things that I never got around to...)The light was advertised as 16 watt, and has a sticker on the side that says 16W / 24V on one end, as you see in the photos. On the other end, there is a second sticker, I guess the quality control sticker... It says 18W.Either way, It's nice and bright, and offers even light, with no hot spots, or shadows. I appreciate this when I'm inspecting a milled part.It has solid mounting points on the back, which can be moved to any position on the back of the light to accommodate your mounting scheme. They are articulated as well, so it was easy to aim it exactly where I wanted, then lock it down. The power cable is enclosed in about a 12" leader of Armored BX type flex conduit, so I just upped my game as far as looking like I cut corners when finishing off the mill. It looks beefy, it feels beefy, and it's bright!Best of all? It now turns on and off with the main power switch, thanks to the compatibility with 24v. (although they seem to sell versions in all sorts of AC and DC Voltages as well.I've ordered 2 more... One for My Blasting cabinet, as I've been using an off-road trail light in it for years, and about 50% of the diodes are dead, and I'm going to install a second one on an arm above my lathe.I like the nice bright white color, as it allows me to see everything clearly. It's a nice daylight hue, which is perfect for seeing the finish on a part. This light is built like a tank, intended for the purpose for which it will be used, and the correct brightness for a machine tool. You want to be able to see, you you don't want to be staring into the sun. This in My opinion is the correct amount of proper illumination. Now that it's mounted, you can't really see it directly, so I took a couple of photos pre-install so you can see it with power.I give it a solid 2 thumbs up based on it's performance so far!
